VANESSA’S VICTOIRE VÉLOCE
VANESSA’S VICTOIRE VÉLOCE
4 years ago, first hybrid bike, first family touring travel, that was all it took Vanessa to get into cycling and distance. As a contemplative touring cyclist, she rides her bike on hilly roads of the Pays Basque. She likes to unwind while riding in the nature, enjoying the landscape and seeing what’s the world has to offer.
Steel bike is a source of inspiration for Vanessa. She enjoys the values and stories about these timeless machines.
I discovered Victoire by accident. I was doing research online and thing led to another, I came across the bike you made for Rapha Pop-up store back in 2015. So then I had a look at your creations. I loved it! Your traditional craftsmanship was exactly what I was looking for. At this point I told myself I would treat myself with a Victoire one day.
Vanessa contacted us for a randonneuse. At Victoire, we put great value in discussing and understanding with our clients. Understanding his experience, his habits, his wishes are the key to success for the perfect custom-made bike. Our client was looking for a bike that she would ride on roads for a full day or less. A reactive and confortable bike that can also go on bad mountain pass roads or good trails. Lastly, she wanted a contained weight. Her project eventually geared towards a Victoire véloce.
The frame is made with Columbus XCr, the stainless steel serie from the italian company. Disc brakes with flatmount standard, internal routing, mudguards mounts and back luggage racks to come, clearance tires in 700x32c to match the ENVE Road Disc fork with the internal routing that enhance the clean look.
Vanessa chose the SRAM transmission, Red 22 range with hydraulic disc brakes. The White Industries R30 crankset brings a little exotic touch. This crankset allows to choose an unusual chainrings size to end up with a suitable range for Vanessa’s riding style, here we have a 46x30 with a 11x32 cassette.
Tune stem and seat post for the obtained weight and the look. Leather saddle and bar tape from French Gilles Berthoud workshop for more confort.
the whheels were laced by hand in our workshop with MAVIC Open Pro UST Disc rims and Chris King R45D hubs. Vanessa trusted us tout on tires on her bike. We chose Compass Stamped pass tires in 700x32c.
This beautiful mounting was completed with a night blue paint in mat finish on the whole frame, fork and stem. To brighten things up and match with the Chris King set, the head badge, the Victoire logo and Columbus are the same mat pink tint.
Vanessa came to see her bike in our workshop.
Wonderful! i hesitated a lot about colours but i don't regret my final choices. the night blue in matte finish works perfectly with the pink for my Chris King parts, i'm stoked!
Under a splendid autumn sun, we went with Vanessa on her first ride with her new travel partner. Her husband, Philippe, also came with us as he was there for a postural study in order to improve his position on his current bike..
Geometry is perfect, my body weight is nicely balanced. It is a confortable bike that makes me ride confidently. I am relaxed and now ready to venture on futur brevets, long distances and roaming.
To be continued….
