Philippe's Victoire Véloce XCR

Genesis

Philippe has been cycling for 35 years :

I ride an average of 6500K per year, mainly on hilly roads, the terrain I like the most. I have been racing for 15 years and now I take part to sportives like L’Etape du Tour, the Time Megève Mont Blanc and others.

He also pays a lot of attention to his equipement :

During these years, I had the luck to ride on all the different materials and on a lot of brands : Eddy Merckx (steel, aluminium), Cannondale (aluminium, carbon), Specialized (aluminium, carbon), Litespeed (titanium), Serotta (titanium)… After many years riding carbon frames, I wanted to find back the feeling of a steel frame, and get the latest evolutions of this material. I have liked the quality of your creations and your philosophy, so I decided to trust in you to build my dream bike. The result is above my expectations, this frame is wonderful.

The project

When he ordered his bespoke bike, Philippe was riding on a Cannondale SuperSix, a reference among the carbon bikes. He wanted to find on his Victoire performances close to this one, but with a better comfort :

On my bespoke bike, I wanted to be able to ride for hours while keeping performance, which is important for me. I initially went for steel tubing but I eventually chose stainless steel. I wanted to be guided by professionals in this project, and it is what I found at Victoire.

To suit our client’s demands, we selected Columbus XCR tubing, combined with a T47 bottom bracket. The stem was also custom made and painted with the same color as the frame and the Columbus Futura Caliper fork.

First impressions

The first feelings were disconcerting. I never had such a machine combining comfort and performances equal to most of the carbon frames. The handling of this frame is very safe, particularly on technical downhills. After some rides with it, I can say that it suits perfectly my needs and my riding.
