MARC'S VELOCE

MARC'S VELOCE

THE PROJECT

Since his early childhood, Marc enjoys skiing, biking and good equipment in general. He often compares his cyclist practice with skiing because of his love of speed, sensations and fun in general. As a cyclosportive, he rides two to three times a week and attends several cyclist events with his friends such as l’Etape du Tour. After a few readings and discussions with his passionate friends, he decided to come and knock at our door. Like every other project, we started by talking to get to know him and understand his expectations.

After a pretty long break, my cyclist friends got me back in the saddle. 15 years has gone by, and a 1 aluminium Willier and 3 carbon Look. I definitely needed to find a bike made for my measurements. A bike with a sporty behavior because I am always ready to deal with the pourcentage, stiff enough for my small silhouette and my age, but also confortable to enjoy the sceneries during my long rides ! Lastly I want a beautiful bike with timeless and modern lines. I thought a Victoire Ventoux could be in accordance with my specifications…

The waiting period allowed Marc to try out the Victoire Véloce life. This experience was very impressive and confirmed his project for a steel bike. Also meeting the different Victoire owners during the Victoire week-end made him place his trust in our approach and our choices.

TECHNICAL CHOICES

The work stream was to find a good stiffness/flexibility ratio of the frame to get a sporty and confortable bike for the mountain. The frame was made from Xcr Columbus stainless steel tubes. Tubes dimensioning was adapted for Marc morphology. Basically, the major different element from our traditional Véloce is the headtube size. We used a 36mm instead of a 44mm. Shorter head tubes means smaller diameter:

  • Upper tube : 28.6mm
  • Seat tube : 28.6mm
  • Diagonal tube : 31.7mm

This set-up is ideal for Marc, a beautiful bike with the sporty spirit of the Véloce.

The custom-made stem enables to adjust the geometry and brings something more to the line of the bike.

Last important part of a custom-made bike, the aesthetic side. Marc wanted a raw stainless steel bike but after a few discussions, he went for a customized paint for a unique, plain and sleek result. The paint and designs make the bike stands out from all the other Victoire road bikes.

BIKE REVEAL

Marc lives in Clermont-Ferrand and comes by and say hi often in our workshop. In order to keep it a surprise, we hided his bike until it was finished.

It is beautiful, amazing, clean… ! This bike is exactly what I imagined. It is not heavy but I don’t like to know the exact weight. Now I need to go and ride… Congrats guys !

FIRST RIDE

We promised Marc to go and ride with him and his brand new Victoire. We went for our classic lunch break ride via Berzet.

It is hard to express how I feel on a heated reaction with all the emotions of this day. I can easily say that the flying carpet often mentioned by your clients is true. I felt it during my Véloce life test but it is even true on my bike. The position is instantly perfect. The bike absorbs roughness of the road. I feel at one with the machine. It is at ease in the mountains passes as well as during change of pace. The direction is balanced, stable even when you release the handlebar or go full speed in slopes. I feel safe. This Victoire is now my exoskeleton !
