LE PROJET

Cyclism is a family matter for Jérôme. His father introduced him to cyclism since his childhood with a desire to continue his passion with sunday rides in the Parisian suburbs or in Mounts Jura. Over the years, Jérôme really started to like bikes, shifting his practice towards a more philosophic and intellectual approach… a taste for wandering, travelling and simply practice cyclism differently, a way of riding so important for our fiends from 200 magazine.

Looking for a bike made for wanderings, Jérôme discovered Victoire.

The first Victoire that I ever saw was the randonneuse for the René Herse tribute which for me was the elegance and versatility that I wanted for my futur bike. I finally decided to contact you after the Concours de machines 2016 that confirmed my first impression of your brand. I also discussed it a lot with my dad and he had a big role in my decision to get a bike that would be made for me and last for years.

TECHNICAL CHOICES

The conception itself was a lot of work for Julien to meet Jérôme’s aesthetic expectations considering the constraints of his morphology. But this randonneuse also demanded a great deal of effort in the workshop with a total of 130 hours to make this set up ok Colulmbus XCr stainless steel tubes, Reynolds steel fork, René stem and the front modular luggage rack, everything custom-made.

You will find on this Victoire Voyage many different options from our catalogue : internal routing, eyelets for mudguards and luggage racks, a third bottle cage, integrated lighting, or seat stays integrated seat clamp.

We adapt the bike geometry with the morphology and we make a selection of machine elements. Several parts of the frame were meticulously studied to make the randonneuse sporty as well as confortable, while fitting perfectly with Jérôme’s tall height :

We used a T47 standard bottom bracket to strengthen this part which is bounded when pedaling. The base is 445mm because the vertical flexibility is rather important on a randonneuse in order to adapt to the road. This feature allows to get a balanced distribution of the weight between front and rear, and also to let some space for big tires and the mudguards settings. We used a 31.6mm seat tube to endure constraints from the large seat post height and saddle setback.

On the seat tube, in addition to the usual attachment points, we added an extra eyelet . The lights integration has been thought in order to use the bike in different loading set ups. Quick connection technologies were placed on different strategic points to use the lights with or without luggage racks and mudguards.

« René » stem was custom-made from Columbus steel tubes to avoid the use of spacers and too long headtube.

Transmission is Campagnolo Chorus completed with a White Industrie R30 crankset. This set up offers two advantages :

  • Allows Jérôme to have consistent speed ratios with is practice and ability. Hence why the postural study is a special day dedicated to provide good advice considering your practice.
  • Having a crankset with a standard form and more specifically with a 180mm polish finish cranks.

All the bags are made by our friend Helmut Equipement. We have been working side by side for a year now with Rodolphe to offer the best quality, modern bags, made in France with French fabrics. Considerable asset : we can customize bags color to match your Victoire bike paint.

One last thing : Silca pump was painted to fuse in the bike. We also welded a small part on the head tube to secure the pump onto the bike.

Many small and subtle technical details that make each bike so special and durable for its owner.

BIKE REVEAL

Jérôme came in our showroom in Beaumont for the delivery of his new sporty randonneuse. Once the veil is lifted, there is a tangible emotion…

Thank you, it is a marvelous creation, a very nice piece of work. Geometry and esthetic are consistent, balanced and sophisticated. I know I am not the most expressive but I am very excited. I could almost kiss you. I am very impatient to try it…

FIRST RIDE

Three weeks have passed since the delivery so Jérôme had time to form opinions on his Victoire Voyage.

Impressive ! This is what I felt after my first rides. The position on the bike comes easily, it is rolling, easy to ride. I am very pleased with his characteristics : nervous, confortable, yet powerful. Once I am on the saddle, I don’t want to get off. I was dreaming of an elegant and minimalist bike and you made it. I really want to say thank you to the team. You listen and give advices to help framing my project for the ideal bike. My plan is to ride more, for several 250 km days in a row across France to say hi to my family and my friends… live more adventures!
