Jacky's Victoire Versus XCR

Jacky's Victoire Versus XCR

Fond of mountaineering, Jacky went to cycling after an accident 4 years ago. It was with a MTB with a Pinion gearbox, he equipped then with slick tires to go for 80 to 200 kilometers rides.

I ride my bike to stay fit for mountaineering. Moreover, I live in Munich, I am very close to the mountains and cycling is a good way to escape from the city. With Victoire, I was free to build the project I wanted, from A to Z, and I really liked that.

I initially went for a new Pinion project but I eventually chose a classic drivetrain to save weight. I wanted a bike to ride further and go over 200K, so it had to be comfortable, but also fast.

Jacky is almost 2 meters tall. In this case, we usually went for a bespoke steel fork, to adapt the specs, but our client absolutely wanted a carbon model to get a more agressive style and save weight. He found this Parlee one with the ideal specs so we designed the frame around it. The frame is made of Columbus XCR stainless steel tubing, and built with a Campagnolo Record H11 groupset, combined with a White Industries crankset with 177.5mm arms. The Gilles Berthoud components with the Swarf Cycles carbon fenders complete the modern randonneur style whereas the SON Edelux II front head powered by the dynamo hub enables Jacky to ride whenever he wants.
