Bertrand's Victoire De Ville

Bertrand's Victoire De Ville

THE PROJECT

Some of our clients come to us with particular requests, just like Bertrand did. He started cycling quite late, and now he rides everyday along the Atlantic coast for 15-25 kms. He has been physically diminished after a stroke so Bertrand was looking for a very confortable bike with a pretty vertical position, easy to use and allowing him to carry groceries and personnal belongings.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

During Bertrand's postural study in our workshop, we adressed differents topics from the requirements specification. His first wish was to be able to hop on the bike easily. In order to lower the center of gravity, wheels are 650B diameter and the bottom bracket is lower. We associated a sloping shape frame with a telescopic seat post. Those parts are usually used for an all road bike. But this allows Bertrand to get going easily, and to adjust the saddle's height with a quick touch on the handlebar lever.

The frame and fork are stainless steel, with Columbus XCr tubes for the frame, and Reynolds 953 for the fork. Impressed by our manufacturing process, Bertrand wanted some visible brazing. The whole thing is covered with a clear varnish, with touches of blue on the headtube badge and the logos.

The transmission is a Carbon Drive belt. It's an absolute reliability, no maintenance needed and perfectly silent. This option is a staple on a leisur bike. It is associated with a Shimano Alfine hub. the front hub is from Son, as well as the lighting system. Bertrand rides everyday on the coast where it often rains so we installed some carbon mudguards from Cyfac. A confortable Brooks Cambium saddle, associated with Ergon anatomic grip.

Bertrand wanted a solution to carry his baguette, some groceries or personnal belongings. He let us free rein for the conception of a custom rear luggage rack. This is the work of Luka. After making the frame and fork, he conceived and made the entire thing. This stainless steel luggage rack also has a rear light stand.

THE UNVEILING

Bertrand was very emotional when he saw his bike. The long delay can sometimes be tiring, but the reveal of the bike that we conceived and waited for is always the best reward.

Curtains up, Bertrand says :

This bike is splendid. The frame builder's work is amazing. The fork and luggage rack are really well designed and made. This is not a racing bike but a leisure bike. It is discret and perfect, ideal for a nice ride.
