Alexis uses his bike for everyday commuting. He owns a steel mountain bike from the 90’s and was looking for a more sporty and versatile bike. He wanted a new bike for commuting (20 kms back and forth), for his week ends rides and also for long distances with a light bikepacking.
After an online hunt for his dream bike, he found our website and has a crush. Alexis decided to contact us and talk about his project.
I contacted you because your bikes are unique, beautiful pieces made in France. I wanted a bike that is not available elsewhere. A custom made bike made to my measurements. Your custom-made offer was the trigger to my choice of purchase. You are going farther in the custom-made experience than any other brands. Once my order was placed, I trusted you entirely for my project.
You can find the different components of Alexis’ Versus at the bottom of the page.
We now want to focus on two details :
- The frame is made from the prestigious Columbus XCr tubes. Alexis liked the stainless steel’s raw finish. Stainless steel is not just good looking. With the right dimensions, it also offers confort and an optimal behavior for our client’s practice, morphology and expectations. The frame options are internal routing, mudguard eyelets and integrated lighting.
- We attach great importance to every details of the bike that we build as if it was ours. An integrated lighting with a carbon fork is quite tricky and can easily create a bad look. This is the reason why we have a woven cable gland that we use to bring the dynamo hub connection to the front light. The rear light cable then goes from the front light et into the left side of the head tube where we made a hole and brazed a stainless steel washer on to straighten the area. Then the cable goes into the upper tube and comes out before the seat tube through a hole, again straighten with a stainless steel washer. The light is fixed on a specific piece, brazed in our workshop in order to secure it and make it visible. The rear light position can change with the specifications.
Alexis discovered his Versus in our workshop.
The result is exactly what I imagined, met my expectations. Very cool !
After trying his new bike on his usual route, Alexis gave us his feedback.
I could give a good try of my Versus on my favorite route and it does really change from my previous bike. The position is very confortable. The bike is smooth and energetic. The dynamo hub lighting is an advantage and brings so much ease to use. The weather wasn’t very nice this day but the bike has a good road handling even under the rain. It’s such a joy! Nothing else to say. I already picture myself next summer when I will attempt my first long distance ride with a Paris to Le Mans route.
