The project

Former top athlete, Alain still pedals strong. After many years of competition, particularly in duathlon and triathlon, he is now riding to discover new places, but he still like to ride fast !

He was looking for a steel bespoke bicycle. He decided to trust in us after our first meeting in our workshop :

I really feel something more at Victoire, there is a true relationship with the team. The lead time was the opportunity for me to think over my project. I was looking for a bike as clean as possible. Initially, I wanted a bike with a classic style, but I eventually went for a more modern one, with a 1x drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes. I love to ride in the mountains, and I feel really safer with them in downhill.

Specifications

Alain got convinced by the advantages of the stainless steel for his frame. We selected the XCR range from Columbus. The downtube is a 31.8mm diameter combined with a T47 bottom bracket to stiffen this area : Alain is a climber and with 295W of average power during 45mn, he is ready to eat the cols up ! The 12mm wheels axles will increase the stiffness on hard breaking.

His bike is built with a SRAM Force 1 groupset with an Absolut Black 46T chainring and a 11-36 cassette. The brake calipers are Hope RX4 whereas the wheels are laced in house from Mavic Open Pro rims and  Chris King R45 hubs.

For the finish, Alain wanted to highlight the raw material, but with a touch of color. Two stripes of pink, red and blue appear behind the seat tube and inside the fork.

First impressions

Like his friend Jean-Pierre, Alain did his shakedown ride on our local roads, after he had a look at his bike for a long time :

I had goose bumps when I look at my bike. The Victoire bikes are really nice on photos but much better in real ! I am proud to had worked with your team.

Future projects

I will work for the next 2 years before I will retire. Then, I plan to ride through the Alps and the Pyrénnées by bike. I also would like to achieve the 7 Majeurs in one day. But more important, I want to have fun on my bike !
