Eurobike 2016 highlights

Eurobike 2016 highlights

Like every year at the end of August , we took the direction of Friedrichshafen, Germany, to visit the biggest European bicycle show : Eurobike. It is a unique occasion to meet the actors of cycle market and to discover their new products for 2017, to offer you the best for your future custom Victoire bicycle. You will find below a selection of the most interesting products we saw there.

Box Components

We have discovered Box Components, a US brand which offers a nice 1x11 drivetrain. The shifter has the particularity to have a single lever to push up and down the gears. To shift into an easier gear, it’s just like any other shifter you’ve used. But, to shift into a harder gear, you actually push the lever inward, towards the stem, using the tip of your thumb. While that may sound confusing, it takes no time to get used to. After a few times up and down the cassette, it felt totally normal. The derailleur is compatible with a Shimano 11 gears cassette or their own one until 46T.

We had the opportunity to test their system on their booth : shifting is smooth and direct. Shifter and derailleur set is available at 250€, and is a good alternative to the two giants that are Sram and Shimano.

Praxis presented a new MTB carbon crankset, called LYFT, with a weight that compete directly with the Race Face Next SL. The one presented on the photo is a standard aluminium model but we still love the uncluttered style of their products. It is a good way to custom your groupset with an original part.

We've been waiting for them for a longtime, Campagnolo has presented the prototypes of their future disc brakes. The design is, in our opinion, a success. We can not wait to test them on one of our bike ! The Italian manufacturer told us that it should be available at the beginning of summer 2017.

The calipers are both with the Flatmount standard, that enables a better integration on road and gravel frames.

The levers keep the nice Campagnolo style

Hope presented some new products for road and gravel bikes with disc brakes.

Road hubs are now available in a disc version, called RS4, with 2 or 4 pawl ratchet, for a smoother functionning.  We also saw a prototype of single ring crankset.

At last, the British brand presented new 4 pistons calipers, available in two versions, one for Sram levers, the other for Shimano ones. A good news to custom your bike with made in Europe parts.

The calipers and the hubs will be available in the next weeks, and can be built on your future Victoire custom frame.
